When architectural practise Lewis & Hickley were looking to create a new Hard Rock Café at the 5 ways development in central Birmingham, they faced a dilemma as to what to do with an existing interior concrete floor. | |||
|
The answer was provided when Davies Shopfitting specified PICSTAIN from PICS Ltd of Newbury. The highly durable and aesthetically decorative properties of PICSTAIN were perfect for this type of project, in that it avoided the need for costly and disruptive floor replacement. PICSTAIN combines metallic salts in a mildly acidic water based solution, that when applied to concrete reacts with the free-lime in the cement to colour etch the paving. Thus creating a variegated finish, with a mottled unique effect. In the case of the Hard Rock Café, a dark mahogany stain was chosen for the main floor area with an attractive terracotta perimeter stain.
However, good looks were not the only consideration. The interior fittings
for this project needed to be completed to an extremely tight deadline.
Again this proved no problem for PICS, who were able to come in 2 weeks
prior to the opening and work with main contractor For further information about PICS range - contact us today. |
